I have been a subscriber to Birchbox for about a year. Click here for latest Birchbox post.
My love for Birchbox has alerted me to the many different monthly beauty boxes available.
My Beauty Army is a great beauty box for those who want a bit more control over the samples.

My Beauty Army is very similar to Birchbox.
It’s a monthly subscription, you get a black box as seen above and you get high-end deluxe size samples.

The main difference is that you can *CHOOSE* what you get

1) Every month there’s a “window frame” about a 1 wk to choose samples
2) They present 9 samples – you choose 6 to keep
3) You can opt to skip a month of the subscription
4) Different brands available compared to Birchbox
5) Samples choices appear slightly larger in size 1-2oz

These are my choices for My Beauty Army for April 2012.
This is what the choice screen look like and you are maybe to the know the product function/size.

I choose my samples around the 1st of the month and then they arrived around 15th of the month.
They were nicely packaged with a sturdy black box as seen above.

My 6 samples I choose
1. Purlisse Lip Conditioner
2. Babor Cleansing Oil Duo
3. Brow Brush / Razor Tool
4. Befine Night Cream
5. CellCeuticals Skin Treatment
6. My FaceWorks Foundation in Light

TIP/TRICK
If you don’t like the 9 samples option they give you but you want to see if they have something else available.

1) Go to left side of your profile – my beauty profile
2) Retake Beauty Profile
3) New beauty samples will pop up and your 9 choices will CHANGE!
You can take the beauty profile as many times as you like from my experience
However, if you do like something when you retake the profile it can be “lost” in a new set so choose wisely!
I did this a few times to see what is out there and get a better combination.

So far I’ve only really tested 2 out of 6 samples since I’ve been quite busy.
Here’s what I think so far.

I’ve never seen or used a tiny razor like this one before.
It comes with a small brush head that comes off to reveal the razor.
It’s very easy to use and great for tiny hairs.

My FaceWorks Foundation in – Light 02
Normally I would say I’m medium color but after looking at some swatches online I decided to go with Light.
I was very impressed by the sample size which will be good for a series of uses.
I think it’s a wonderful summer foundation and feels natural.
The consistency is very much a liquid form and it is easy to apply. It has medium coverage.

My thoughts?
I really like my Beauty Army and I think I will keep subscribed.
I found the samples I choose to be a solid sample size and I’m pleased with the selection.
I recently received my May 2012 box so stay tuned for that to be posted!

April 2012 – Earth Day Box
1. Benta Berry G-1 Exfoliating Cleanser
2. Wonderstruck by Taylor Swift Perfume
3. Willa Clear Face Moisturizer
4. Alima Pure Nourishing Lip Balm
* Le Palais Tea Bags

Willa Clear Face Moisturizer
Right off the bat, I really like how cute and well packaged this deluxe sample is. It looks like a cleanser bottle but actually a clear moisturizer. The product has a very plant/earthy smell to it but the scent goes away after application. The consistency is very water-based and absorbs quickly into the skin. I did feel soft and smoothness after use and I think it would be a good daily moisturizer for oily/combination skin types. However being prone to dryness I don’t think I would end up purchase this one.

Alima Pure Nourishing Lip Balm – Full Size
I’m really pleased to have received this product. I never heard of the brand but I’m always ready to try a new lip balm as my lips are often in the state of being chapped. The packaging very slim and travel friendly. It has a twist up application.
The color I received in Rhubarb is dusty rose with a very strong minty scent. So far I’m enjoying it and I will be doing a lip balm “wars” post soon to tell you more about the throw down.

Taylor Swift’s Perfume in Wonderstruck
This is a very popular perfume and has easily recognizable bottle. I think this scent is complex floral and I can see how it would make as a nice gift. It’s not too strong or too sweet. There’s definite floral and fruity tones to it. I could seeing myself wearing it.

G-1 Cleanser – Defective
So this was a teeny tiny sample…yes that happens once in awhile. However, I think my sample was defective because no product came out of the tube. Thankfully Birchbox has AMAZING Customer Service and they gave me 100 pts when I told them about the situation so basically I ended up getting this box for free. 100pts = $10 Birchbox store dollars. I didn’t get to try it but I’m ok with that.

Extra – Teas
I don’t really drink teas. I felt these were packaged beautifully and looked very exotic. But with that being said I can’t offer any idea whether it was good or bad.

Overall, I’m happy with the April 2012 Box. I was ecstatic with the Birchbox service over the damaged sample.
So I’m sticking with my Birchbox and I seriously can’t wait for the May Box. These boxes are getting addicting!

Review: June 2011 Birchbox
This box was dubbed the ‘wanderlust’ themed box and seems a fitting name since I did end up traveling quite a bit this month. Thus I’ve still working on trying out all the products. But boy was I excited when I got my June Birchbox! I was a little naughty and peeked at Ebrushka’s Makeup Bag blog post about her Birchbox. With that being said, not everyone gets the same items in their box so I wasn’t completely cheating on the surprise factor.

I was so happy I got FULL-SIZE Laura Geller Blush n Brighten (Honey-Dipped) in my June Box. This compact alone retails for $30 us dollars. I’ve heard a lot about Laura Geller baked products from Youtube’s Beauty Broadcaster Emilynoel83 but I wasn’t ready to shell out the dough for it without trying them. So far the only places I know you can purchase Laura Geller products are on QVC (tv show), qvc.com, birchbox.com and CVS 360 beauty stores.

Laura Geller’s Blush n Brighten (in Honey Dipped) is a baked product. So you can use it wet or dry. It says perfect for highlighting, blush and contouring. I’ve heard it’s comparable to Mac mineralized skin finishes.

Honey Dipped’s color is a light golden beige with hints of gold shimmer and with a bronze undertone. The shimmer isn’t chunky or glittery but I would still avoid a heavy hand.

It’s great for the summer months. Only caveat is I find it a bit light for my skin tone but for those who love a lighter bronzer this would be perfect. Compact size .32oz /9 grams.
2nd  Anticipated Product:
Pangea Organics Facial Toner in Italian Green Mandarin & Sweet Lime
It’s smells minty and with lots of citrus notes. I like how it came with a mini-face pump. I’m really excited to try it out tomorrow. I’ll keep you updated if turns out promising!

June Birchbox: (This comes in the a card with all Birchboxes)
1. Kate Spade Perfume in Twirl
2. Laura Geller Baked Blush n’ Brighten in Honey Dipped
3. Oscar Blandi Olio Di Jasmine Hair Serum
4. Pangea Organics Toner
(Extra Samples) Herban Essentials Orange Toweletters + Pangea Organic Facial Cream sample

Overall: I love getting my Birchbox in the mail.
This has been my 2nd full size product after 3 months of Birchbox. The first was a Stila Eyeshadow in Mahogany (retail $18 us dollars). So score! considering this box only costs me $10 dollars and I received $30 blush + 5 other products to try out.

I’d highly recommend trying out Birchbox if you love trying new beauty products, beauty product rut, don’t use many products or it’s a perfect gift!

I love how it’s a surprise that comes in the mail every month ^_^
I just wanted to get this post out so you’d have time to sign up for July Birchbox!!!
Only 2 more days so get on it!

Cheers!
