Physicians Formula Happy Booster Blush in Rose

Hi Gals!
Recently I went on a wonderful trip with my friend Lynn and we ended up at Ulta where I was able to pick a few new cosmetic items.
I like Ulta because it seems every week they have a new coupon code for either 20% or $3.50 of $10 purchase on everything in store except “prestige cosmetics”. To find these coupons just go to Ulta.com and they have a button to print them out.

Anyways, I was really excited because I was able to pick the new Physicians Formula Happy Booster blush. Physicians Formula is more of a high-end drugstore brand but I really like the quality of their makeup. Their pricing usually around $7-$14 dollars. They just came out with the new Happy Booster Line which is sooo adorable to the upcoming Valentine’s Day. They have a translucent powder, 2 blushes, and couple of different bronzers.

Physician Formula Happy Booster Blush in Rose:
Retail $12-$14 dollars (avaliable most drugstores & mass merchandise retailers)
Ulta was also having B1G50% off sale so I was able to get this for around $6 dollar.

Here’s the packaging! It’s so adorable, pink and cute. The Happy Booster line is supposed to be designed to make you feel “more happy”. I don’t know the scientific claims about this or if it really works. I love the mosaic hearts in the blush, the metallic pink packaging and it certainly makes me happy because it’s so cute. I think this would be a perfect Valentine’s Day gift or any day gift!
It’s about the size of a compact mirror. The line only has 2 blushes: a natural one which is lighter and this one which is called Rose. I choose Rose b/c I’m looking for a pinker blush.

It’s mosaic style blush so that different colors. I just take my blush brush and sweep it over the compact to get a combined color. I hear that you can slightly alter the intensity of the blush color as one side is more “red-pink” and other side is more “light pink” so depending on where you sweep you could get different color. The color I get is rosy pink with shimmer.

I just think the hearts are such a nice touch. The blush also smells really good in the packaging like roses or violets. The smell doesn’t really transfer to your face.
So once you left the lid, there’s the product pan, under the product pan there’s a mirror and it comes with a pink-red brush. I missed seeing the mirror the first 2 times I used it but I’m happy to have finally found it. The brush on the other hand I find difficult to use so I just use my regular blush brush. It’s very portable compact.
This is me using it. I don’t know if the lighting in the picture will reveal the coloration. It’s a light pink rosy blush.
It’s very wearable and buildable for more color intensity if you would like.

Overall I’d give this product 5 out 5. I love the packaging, delightful smell, the mosaic hearts, the color and the application.
I wouldn’t be adverse to picking up more products from this line as so far I’m really loving it.

Other Information:
EmilyNoel83 on Youtube recently also did a review as seen here
* In case you aren’t able to find one right now, I hear this product will be featured in PF permanent line.
*Stila Cosmetics also came out with a similar blush called the “Make me Blush” as seen on Stila’s Website & Sephora.com.

Target 75% Clearance Merchandise!!! (mostly winter/seasonal stuff)

So my mom has been waiting like 4 days for this magical day to happen at Target. I didn’t realize the excitement of 75% off until we went to Target today. Actually we went to both the  Chan Target & Edina Super Target so my suggestion is to find the biggest Target store for best selection.

Anyways, Target is having 75% off their “pink dot” dollar section items = $0.25 cents! They were clearing out all their holiday cards, ornaments, gifts, wrapping paper and seasonal stuff. I think this sale officially started 12/31/10 but I went today and there was still good stuff left. Target also had a lot of their winter clothing on sale for 30%, 50%, and 75% off. Stuff is going fast so I’d hurry to Target if you want anything.

This is only my part of the haul but we also got tons of LED christmas lights, wrapping paper and other holiday decorations. Everything was 75% off original price so I saved a lot of $$$.Dollar Section – Mountain Dew Code Red Lip Balm ($0.25 each) I love the dew containers. One of them is for my brother.
Dollar Section – Glitter Purses with metal snap closure in Black Glitter, Metallic Pink, & Silver ($0.25 each) These are simple with one pocket inside. It’s great for a quick trip out or for a party. I saw it on Hip2save.com and I had to snag some up.
6 plug outlet strip ($1.48) I sensed a scarcity of outlets in my future. But no worries I got a new outlet strip!
Holiday FunFetti Cake Mix (0.48 each – I got for free with Sunday Newspaper coupons) Funfetti is my favorite box cake mix! YUMMY!
Ghiradelli Seasonal Chocolates ($0.40 each) They were originally $3.50 – 75% off = $0.87  (great deal) plus I had coupon from coupons.com for $1 off 2 bags. They are really good tasting. It’s caramel with a hint of pumpkin. I got 4 bags but we ate one on the ride home so they probably going to be all gone soon!
Target Stockings ($0.50 each) I absolutely adore these stockings. They are made with felt like fabric and have Target winter characters. They actually were quite inexpensive to begin with only $2 each but I’m so happy to snag it on sale. They had a ton of them left with lots of designs. I think it would be a great way to wrap a present for next holiday season or decoration for my apt away from home.
Dollar Section – Winter Lotions in Raspberry, Cranberry & Vanilla 5 oz ($0.25 each) I love love love the packaging. It’s so festive! It’s really nice amount of lotion and I haven’t tried them yet but I’ll tell you how it goes! They also had like shower gels or other body products.
Stocking Stuffer Skittles lip balm tube  in strawberry, lemon, lime ($1) I’m a lip product addict and I use to really enjoy the starburst lip products so I thought I’d try these out. I’m always on the look out for new lip balms, plus it’s winter so my lips get so chapped!
Dollar Section – Pepsi Wild Cherry Flavored Lip gloss ($0.25) I had to pick up ‘cuz pepsi wild cherry is one my favorite drinks.
Dollar section – Travel Brush & Mirror in Purple ($0.25) I remembered in highschool my friend Anna always had one of these. It’s really handy for travelers and just popping into your bag.
Dollar Section  – Kiddie  Bowls 2 Pack ($.025 each) Ok, you must be starting to either think I’m crazy or like 5 years old. Dude I love these bowls, I think kid bowls always have cute patterns and are very useful. It’s be good for eating snacks, fruits, and ice cream. It’s kid-size so portion control? Yes portion control that’s how I’ll justify this purchase. OMG they had the most adorable make-believe cooking items for kids too, I almost got in a whisk in mistake.

Dollar Section – Hello Kitty reusable Tote ($0.25) So if you don’t know this already I’m a sucker for a cute reusable tote. They have endless uses, waterproof, easy to clean and portable. I choose this one but I remember they also use to red or pink ones and couple different patterns. This is a smaller tote about half the size of grocery paper bag. I also got one for one my friends b/c she loves Hello Kitty. Maybe she can use it to take lunch to work or something like that.

Anyways, those were my super awesome 75% off clearance haul and I only spent $7 dollars for all of it! I saved $40 dollars!
That’s a great way to start the New Year! ^^
Woot My very first workout dvd! Shape 5-day Jumpstart! ($12.99)
They had these at endcap in Target. They were $13 each, tad bit pricey but it comes with 1 year voucher to Shape Magazine ($15 value).
It is my New Year’s resolution to be more active. I’ll have to tell you more later because right now it’s sitting sealed on my bed so I don’t know much about it. I’m really pumped to try it.
E.L.F. Eyelash Curler ($1)
This isn’t in the dollar section but in Target makeup aisle. E.L.F stands for eyes, lips and face. They are inexpensive makeup brand that really popped up on my radar. Their products are however usually hit or miss for me. It seems that’s general consenus on the products.  I love their eyeshadow brush and lucky lady lip stain but I didn’t love the concealer compact, concealer brush or hypershine lip gloss. I had to try this eyelash curler b/c beauty guru on Youtube: Emilynoel83 always talks about it. My recent curler decided to malfunction. Totally random I use to think curler were the weirdest makeup tool like seriously I wonder how this invention came about.

Part 2 of the Haul (Regular Priced items from Target)

Well thanks for staying with my entirely too long haul. Hope you snag some awesome deals.

Visions of Pink Gradience – Nail Tutorial

Recently I found out about the beauty community on Youtube. They have a variety of tutorials, hauls, makeup suggestions and real people making videos as makeup “gurus”. This is my first attempt at following a tutorial. It’s by Miss Glamorazzi and you came view it here. I thought she did a great job and it was really easy to follow. I added a bit of twist to mine.

Ingredients?  (This technique is very versatile and you can use different colors* These are the ones I used)

NYC – In a New York Color Minute nail polish $1.99 each (purchased at Target)
Midtown- med pink  (240B)
Uptown- light pink (242B)
*Other colors they have can be seen on their NYC site here.
*For this technique you need at least 2 nail polish colors within the same color spectrum and 1 light/ 1 darker shade. I choose PINKS!
*The brand does not matter. I use NYC because it’s inexpensive & accessible. Miss Glamourazzi uses OPI. It all works out.

L.A. Colors Art Deco Glitter Polish – Silver ($1 purchased at Dollar Tree)
I choose to use a thicker glitter to draw stripes on my nails instead of shimmer overcoat. This was my personal preference.

Cosmetic Sponges $1-2 (mass retailers)
I picked up some at the Dollar Tree but you can buy them anywhere. It doesn’t matter the shape as you will just be using it to dab on nail polish. However make sure the one you choose you will be willing to part with because it will get covered in nail polish. They are quite inexpensive tools.

**Lastly if you have undercoat or topcoat polish …add it to the list! ^^

Style: Color Gradient (10-15min)
1. Prepare nails for nail polish. Trim, file, clean….etc
2. Apply undercoat polish if you have one
3. Apply 1-2 coats of your lighter colored nail polish on all nails, wait for it to dry
4. Put a dab of the darker nail polish on the cosmetic sponge and dab on your nails up to the mid-point (Apply thin coat as seen in video)
5. Gradually dab on darker and more nail polish using the darker nail polish & sponge. Stop when you reach the gradient you would like.
6. Optional: Using glitter polish draw 1-2 diagonal lines on nails or add on the “shimmer” top coat or just your regular top coat.
Viola! You have a salon design and it’s super easy! (Sorry the nails look small, click on the photo and it will enlarge!)

Indispensable Makeup Picks of 2010: All under $10

These are a few products that I absolutely adore! If you’ve been reading my blog you know that I love getting great deals. I find that these products not only are great at what they do but incredibly affordable and accessible at your local retailers. Thus you don’t have to fiddle around for deals.

NYC Liquid Lip Shine (554U) Sungold Pink $1.99 (Sold at Wal-Mart, CVS)

  • Applies on smooth with pinkish gold shimmer
  • Yummy coconut-like scent

NYC Color Lipstick (407B) Smooch $1.99 (loca retailers such Wal-Mart, CVS)

  • long lasting, no strong lipstick smell
  • gorgeous coral pink color

The above picture is the color swatch for both of the products. Top is the lip gloss, Bottom is the lip stick, and Left Side is the combination. These two products are stand-alone very nice. However I think they create a spectacular blend when combined. (It’s not as light pink on the lips but more of shimmer coral-pink-gold.)

Baby Shampoo $1-3 (most local retailers)I use baby shampoo all the time for cleaning out my makeup brushes. It’s really effective, gentle and cheap! I saw it once on youtube makeup tutorial and I’ve been using it ever since. It gets eyeshadow, waterproof eyeliner, and makes brushes like new. Plus you can get this for $1 travel size in most local retailers and that will last you a long time!

Baby Oil $1-3
This may sound a bit crazy at first but this stuff really works at getting makeup off your face. I usually just dab some oil on a tissue and wipe off my makeup.I use to have issues with my makeup remover not being able to handle waterproof makeup or it would take a long time to get off. Well this stuff works great even on waterproof eyeliner, mascara, and heavy makeup without leaving residue. Afterwards I just wash my face with my normal daily face wash and no oily ness/smell is left behind. It’s gentle! (just make sure not to get in your eye, make sure to wash oil off)
*I’ve heard that cold cream, baby wipes, and some lotions can also easily remove makeup.

Ulta Automatic Eyeliner in (Black, Olive) $7 (sold only at Ulta, ulta.com)
This eyeliner goes on smooth, is long-lasting, and twistable! I have it a bunch of colors. My favorite is the black which is really black and the olive which is subtle but has that pop of color to change-up your routine. Plus Ulta often has coupons for their store, BIGI and I was able to snag some for only $2 each during one of their sales.
Burt’s Bee pomegranate Oil Lip Balm $3 (sold at most local retailers: Riteaid, CVS, Wal-Mart, Target)
Oh man I’ve tried a lot of different lip balms since I have sensitive lips that are always chapped. I have to say so far this is my favorite lip balm out of huge array from Carmex, Bath & Body works, C.O. Bigelow, the Body Shop, EOS, Chapstick, Nivea, Avon, Smuckers, Soft Lips and etc. I’ve even tried other lip balms made by Burt’s Bees but none of them are as effective as this one. It’s has a pleasant smell, light hint of color, goes on smooth, and keeps my lips moisturized for longer. I don’t find myself re-applying as often.

Olay Quench Lotion $5-10 (Most local retailers : Wal-Mart)
This product came out in 2009 so it’s relatively new but I love it. I tried it on a whim because they were doing a rebate for Olay products. I really enjoy using this product. The lotion is moisturizing without being too thick, lightly scented so it smells good, and there’s a hint of shimmer. I use this lotion all over. It doesn’t irritate my face. It really easy to use bottle with a pump.
Physician Formula Baked Collection: Baked Sands $7.28 (local retailers: Target)
I love trying out new makeup but this one has managed to stay in my makeup bag the longest. I really love the brown tones in this trio, you can apply it dry or wet, and it’s really bang for your buck. I’ve been using this one for forever it seems. My favorite is that golden brown color which highlights your eyes and beautiful color.

Almay Intense I-Color for Brown Eyes $7.49 (most local retailers : Riteaid)
First off I’m not positive that this makes my brown eyes pop like they advertise but it’s a really good product. The color palette is conceived in a manner that really blends together and has the ability to be build-able. My favorite is shimmer pink-purple eyeshadow for highlights and all over color. The colors are pigments, easy to use and long-lasting.

Vegan Bamboo Angled Eyeliner Brush $5 (www.theallnaturalface.com, www.theallnaturalface.etsy.com)
This is the only product that is solely online but I felt for the value I had to mention it. I purchased mine while I was scanning through Etsy mineral makeup sellers. The all natural face has super cheap starter sets for mineral makeup, great customer service, and she gives out tons of samples. While back I was desperately looking for an affordable eyeliner brush but everywhere I looked brushes where $15-20 dollars! Then I remembered about this one which is a fraction of the price and it’s good. It’s angled, stiff enough to make a thin line, and it’s vegan! I use it for applying my gel liner and I’m loving it.

So today it seems after waiting an eternity (I’m so bad at waiting) my Sephora.com order arrived in the mail. I bet you are wondering why I bought online because I could just get Sephora at the mall. Well Sephora has really inexpensive & online exclusive products that really could it make it worthwhile to check out if you haven’t already.

I got this Limited Edition Smashbox Palette $15 (96 value) here
It’s full size palette. Size is approx. 4 X 4.
It has very nice large square mirror when you open it up. The shadows are blendable and have a slight shimmer. Plus I just love using brown & purple tones so this is a perfect match for me! $15 you can’t find this in stores.

Smashbox Cream Eyeliner $10 (32 value)
This product is more like sample of all their eyeliners. It about the size of credit card. They sell it for $32 in the Sephora Stores.
Sorry! I can’t talk about it more because it’s arriving in a different order. But I’m excited to try it.
Smashbox Smile Brightening Lip Gloss $5
I saw someone on Youtube review this lip gloss. They bought it for $22 dollars! It’s a clearish-pink color, with lots of sparkle and minty tingying feeling similar products like C.O. Bigelow with Mentha. Unfortunately, my lips are not suitable to tingle but for those of you who like it that feeling this product is a steal for the price!

If you don’t like Smashbox products. They also had deeply discounted (limited-online only) on Nars, Bare Escentuals, Philosophy, Boscia, and Stila…to name a few. They are always updating and changing their inventory.

Highlight of this post is the *FREE* Sephora Getaway Bag!
At first I didn’t think much about this because Sephora often has codes to get additional samples/freebies to your ONLINE ORDER.

But this one is REALLY AWESOME! I’ve gotten a few samplers before but these are all DELUXE samples. It comes with 10 deluxe samples inside a travel-friendly bag. I’m pretty sure you can get a month worth of use out of them and with how much make up costs these days… this a great option to try out products. I’m sure this sampler worth at least $10+ by itself.  (Samples may vary- there may be substitution)

I love the little bag it comes in because it’s perfect for my flight coming up. My suggestion is that you snag one if you are planning to buy anything from Sephora or  have someone who likes makeup in mind. (Sephora has bunch of neat gift sampler sets which have -free shipping)

I wish I could show you my photos so you could see how cool this freebie is but my computer is acting up. 😦

Samples I received in my Getaway Kit:
1. Eternal Grace 1fl oz
2. Mini Make Up Forever Lipstick in Rouge Artist Intense
3. Lorac Behind the Scenes Eye Primer 5ml
4. Tarte Recreate Primer 9ml
5. Anastasia Brow Gel tube
6. Lancome Haute Definition Mascara
7. Sephora mono color eyeshadow in peach beige
(same size as in the birthday gift, I really liked my previous one)
8. Smashbox Limitless eyeliner (half size)
9. Sephora Advanced lash booster tube

10. {Best for Last} Bliss Eau de toilette 4ml rollerball perfume (cucumber spa smell) that’s like $9 value right there!

Bliss perfume I got is nicely-packaged and totally better than the usual perfume splitzer samples they give out.

p.s. I love Smashbox. Here are tips to get deals on Smashbox
+ Smashbox.com has free samples + free shipping on
any order any time!

1. Smashbox.com Let’s do lunch
(free gift with purchase T/Th 9-2pm pst – Gifts change every time!)

3. Sephora.com
4. Recently Ulta has been coming out with $10-15 value kits with full size product combinations

*Disclaimer: I purchased everything with my own money. Not affilated with any of the brand, stores, or products I talked about. The Getaway kit is limited edition, while supplies last. * However as of right now they still have them left!
