Review Lorac Unzipped Eye Shadow Palette is A+

Lorac Unzipped Eyeshadow Palette + Mini Primer
Purchased at Sephora
Price – $40
*Recently it’s also available at Ulta

Let’s end the month of May with a Bang!
This precious palette has been a coveted favorite of mine this month.
It’s everything I looked for in a great palette from pigmentation to texture to package …this is it 🙂

Loraz Unzipped Palette Snapshot Review:

This a absolutely, hands down, amazing palette from Lorac Cosmetics.
I think out of all the different high-end and drugstore neutral palette this is my favorite.
I find that this set is very similar to Lorac’s baked eye shadow collection line.
It was strong pigmentation and silky smoothy buttery texture.

What it is

The Lorac Cosmetics Unzipped Eyeshadow Palette has 10 creamy eyeshadow shades.
It comes with 6 shimmery + 4 matte shadows + 1 Lorac eyeshadow primer

The packaging is amazing for traveling. I took this with me on my carry-on to Mexico.
It’s very slim, the eyeshadow pans are the size of quarters (easy to use) and comes with a mirror.

Swatched on watercolor paper without Primer

This is just for white color background reference.
The colors do lean towards more neutral or nude look.
They would be prefer for work, school and professional environments.

Swatched on arm without primer

This is the full set from Top Row to Bottom Row, Left to Right.

Swatched on arm without Primer ( Top Row)

I can’t possibly rave enough about how excited I was to see that Lorac came out with this formulation.
The shimmer and pigmentation is very close the Lorac’s Little Black Palette (baked) without the bulk.

Undercover – Matte White
Unbelievable – Shimmer Rosy Brown
Unattainable – Shimmer Walnut Brown
Unconditional – Matte Light Brown
Unbridled – Matte Plum Brown

Swatched on arm without primer (Bottom Row)

Did I mention there’s little to no fall out!!!
The matte colors are so pigmented and silky without being chalky.

Undiscovered – Shimmer Gold
Unreal – Shimmer Rose Gold
Uncensored – Shimmer Deep Brwon
Unspoken – Matte Brown
Untamed – Shimmer Deep Dark Brown with Gold Flecks

Overall, I’ve been using this palette non-stop for 2 weeks and I say get it!
At one time they said this palette was limited edition so I really recommend picking it up.
Lorac eye shadows don’t get much hype but they sure do deserve it!

p.s. the mini primer is nice too.

Review The Body Shop Vit E Intense Moisturizer

The Body Shop
Vit E Intense Moisturizer
Price $20

Since I moved to California, I find myself in a state of very, very dry skin.
First off, I would recommend this for dry skin use as it is a thick moisturizer.

I really like this moisturizer as it’s unscented and my skin drinks moisturizer.
I find it to be gentle and it doesn’t sting when my face is washed or irritated.
It does provide a lot of moisturizer as the lotion leans more towards a cream consistency.

It’s a bit on the higher end scale as $20 for 1.7 oz.
But I use it daily and a tub lasts me about 3 months. So I find it is worth the cost.
Plus the Body shop is always having deals and sales going on.

Feel free to ask a Body Shop employee for a sample to try at home ❤

Rimmel Day 2 Night Mascara in Blackest Black
I’ve been on a great mascara hunt trying from Revlon, Maybelline, L’Oreal and finally to Rimmel.
I really liked the Rimmel Sexy Curves mascara, but I’ve come to find that this one takes it up a notch!
This mascara is very interesting contraption where it able to give volume and length.
The invention is a mascara wand with a long tube in the cap that can either pile on mascara or squeeze the excess off.
I find the volume wand gives me lots of product to build up my lashes and the length allows me to define the tips.
It can be a bit tricky at first getting the right amount of product. I really love the effect.

K-Palette Tattoo Eyeliner in Black & Dolly Wink Eyeliner in Black
These are foreign brands, can be purchased at Ichiban Kan & Sasa.com for US buyers.
They claimed to be one of the best and darkest liquid eyeliners in Asia.
I’ve come to prefer them for their depth in color and easy of application compared to my physician formula eye booster pen.

(Swatched On Hand – KPalette, Dolly Wink)

The two pens are extremely comparable in formula, wear, pigmentation, packaging and design.
I use them interchangeably for my black winged eye look.
Click here for super detailed review of the two pens

Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing Serum
(sample size)
“This stuff is magic” say E …and well it sure feels like it. 🙂
Thank you for Birchbox for allowing me to find this.
Recently I bought I splashed out and purchased the full size bottle of this product because it was just that good.
It’s definitely a higher end acne skin product at $30 for 2-oz  but for once just trust me it’s so worth it!!!

The product is a clear watery gel that you can either use as all over face serum or just spot treatment for acne.
I only use it as a spot treatment on breakouts/irritated skin.
I avoid using it as entire face serum because I do have dry to combination skin.
The product quickly soothes my blemish and absorbs into the skin.
I find it provides next day results where my blemish is cleared or significantly smaller.
Another benefit is that a little goes a long way. 🙂

Revlon Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie
Revlon lip butter are hybrid product with the pigmentation of a lipstick and feeling of a lip balm.
They come in a huge range of colors from pinky nude to sizzling red.
I really like to use raspberry pie both as a intense pop of color and lightly as a lip stain.
It feel comfortable for a day wear, easy to apply and smooth texture like butter 😛
I would highly recommend trying out this drugstore goodie.

Ecotools Mineral Kabuki Brush (I have reviewed the whole set in blog archives)
This has been my go-to makeup brush for most of the spring.
It’s light, small, compact, durable, soft synthetic bristles, bamboo handle and picks up the right amount of product.
It’s doesn’t shed and holds up great.
I use it for translucent powders, bronzer and blush powders.

Sonia Kashuk Limited Edition Eyelash Curler (I have reviewed the item  in blog archives)
I recently raved about this eye lash curler and it’s a steal for $7.
I’ve been using it frequently over my Sephora Gold Karat curler as I’m not afraid to bring it every where with me.
It’s light, simplistic design, no spring and gives a great full curl.
It’s a great partner to my Rimmel Day 2 Night mascara.

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze (cream)
L’Oreal Infallible Eye Shadow in Eternal Sunshine (pigment)
L’Oreal Infallible Eye Shadow in Bronzed Taupe (pigment)
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye Shadow Pencil in Sin (cream)

These are must have in my collection and I pull them out on a daily basis.
I’m even tempted to just stick to these above all other eye shadows I have… dare I say I am tempted.
These hot new release are on par with their high-end counterparts!!!

(Swatched on Hand – Without Primer – UD Sin, Maybelline Bad to the Bronze, L’oreal Eternal Sunshine, & L’oreal Bronzed Taupe)

Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Shadow Pencil in Sin
I like to use UD Sin as both a all over lid shade and a shimmery primer for the lids.
The UD 24/7 eye shadow pencils are a dream to work with.
They are incredibly creamy, fast drying, smooth and a gorgeous color.
They seriously last all day without creasing or fading – A+ in my book!
* Currently on sale at Urban Decay Website for under $10 for a set of 5

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze
I hear these have been compared to Mac Paint Pot, Makeup Forever Cream and many more high-end brands.
All I can say is RUN! to the store and buy this bad boy.
It’s a wonderful bronze that med-tones, shimmery and great for both base/lid use.
It very blend-able, fast drying, creamy, doesn’t crease, lasts all day and is $6 bucks!!!
It’s dare say my best find of the year.

L’Oreal Infallible Eye Shadows in Eternal Sunshine & Bronzed Taupe
I’d say this item is closest to a pigment product.
However, it provides the best attributes of pigments and pressed eye shadows.
It’s incredibly pigmented, vibrant, smooth texture and it’s NOT MESSY because it stays a strange malleable solid form.
It’s also been compared to Chanel Ombre / Giorgio Armani Eye to Kill eye shadows.

These are for sure something a beauty lover needs in their collection.
The colors provide great depth and dimension to the eye.
I often use Maybelline Bronzed Taupe as a base, L’Oreal Eternal Sunshine as all over lid and L’oreal Bronzed Taupe for crease color.
I can only compare this to how great the Lorac little black baked palette performs – impeccable!

p.s. Don’t you think Eternal Sunshine is such a wonderful name?!?

Yep those are my spring favorites 🙂

Cheap Thrill Awesome Eye Lash Curler for $7

Say Hello to my new favorite eye lash curler!

Sonia Kashuk Eye Lash Curler
Purchase – Target.com (Online Only)
Costs – $7
Buy Here.

Prior to really venturing into the world of makeup, I was really quite frightened of eye lash curlers and I still maintain a love-hate relationship with mascara. The fear of the strangely shaped tool that suddenly goes way too close to my eye.

However, I longed for my short and pin straight lashes to be swooshy and beautiful.
I came upon this eyelash curler on a whim while skimming www.makeupandbeautyblog.com and I was intrigued by the price. Seriously I own from the cheapest $1 ELF eye lasher curler to the $17 Sephora gold eye lash curler so how would this particular lash curler fit?!? (BTW Sephora curler is equally awesome but pricey)
MBBlog Review Here

The Sonia Kashuk has become my go-to model. It’s performs like a much higher-end tool with a affordable price tag.
The tool itself look similar to any run of the mill lash curler. It’s simplistic, satin black finish, comes with handle grips and one lash plastic piece. I suppose that’s the downside there’s only 1 lash plastic piece when tools usually come with 2 but I’ve never used a curler to the put I need a new one so I’m ok with it.

I like the simplicity of the design. It’s lightweight and there’s no spring.
I find the curve of the tool fits perfectly my eye shape without pinching my skin.
It gives a wonderful curl and very easy to use.

Pro
– Affordable
– Simplistic
– Slim
– Satin Black

Con
-Comes with only 1 lash plastic
Available only online => free shipping $50 & go to coupon mountain to find $5 off $50 coupon

Overall, I’d highly recommend this tool if you are in the market for a new one!

A peek into my makeup storage for every day use

As a beauty blogger I’m always trying out new products and putting them to the test.
So I suppose it’s no secret now that I really enjoy testing, trying and expanding my makeup collection.
However with that being said this my “portable” collection that I use on a daily basis.
It contains a lot of my favorite items, things I”m currently testing out and some tools I use regularly.

The container I got from Daiso from $1.50, score!
I really enjoy shopping at Daiso because it’s like a Japanese dollar store but with so much better stuff.
I like how the containers comes with a divider that removable and I can choose where to place it.

I’m loving these products and I would recommend!

My New Love for French Macarons & Miette’s Bakery

Miette
449 Octavia St
San Francisco, CA 94102
Price ($)
*I think there’s also stores in Ferry Building and Oakland.

Welcome to Miette’s!
Jennifer and I stumbled upon Miette’s when trying out Smitten ice cream across the way.
This incredibly cute bakery and sweet shop has now become one of my guilty pleasure.
The staff is very friendly, the sweets are delicious, colorful atmosphere and they have a macaron happy hour!

Yes you heard me a french macaron happy hour at this location on Octavia!
– Monday to Friday from 5-7pm
– French Macarons are $1 each (reguarly $1.75)
– Limit 6

This is a photo of my 1st french macaron ever.

It was a hazelnut french macaron from Miette’s.

It was slightly nutty, a bit of crunch, chewy, sweet and Nutella flavored cream.

…It was divine. Now there’s no going back.
Anyways, I didn’t know I would love macarons. I always thought they would be very airy, crunchy and taste a bit like chalk. I don’t know why I thought this but I did …until Miette’s.

They have 6-7 flavor of french macarons and they can vary day to day. So far I’ve had the liberty of tasting rose, orange chocolate, vanilla, hazelnut, and chocolate. Yes they are all amazing!!! I do love the hazelnut the best.

This is love.
So you may think this is a bit silly to declare love for the 1st French macaron that I meet.
However, I assure you with the utmost ability that yes! this really is a delicious macaron.
I know it in my heart we are meant to be.

The other goodies I got from the shop were equally as delicious!

– Miette Chocolate Sable Cookies dipped in Sea Salt and Dark Chocolate – highly recommended for chocolate addicts!
– A piece of Caramel
– A assortment of black licorice from the candy jars for someone special

I saw at Costco and Amazon.com that Miette has a cookbook out.
Has anyone tried it? I’m very interested in picking it up!

I Heart Inglot Cosmetics Haul (eye shadows)

Inglot Cosmetics is a Polish based cosmetic makeup company that was established 25+ years ago by Wojtek Inglot.
Recently, they have been expanding their business and opening makeup counters around the USA.

Purchased at Inglot Website & Inside Inglot Counter at the Macy’s Store in Union Square @ SF, California

Prices
$5 per freedom system eyeshadow pans
$10 2-pan magnetic palette
$14 10-pan magnetic palette

I currently own 2 freedom style palettes. At first when the lady at the counter was talking about the palettes I thought meh, what’s so special about it? Well now I can say that I wholeheartedly that  love Inglot’s freedom style palette! They are great because of their simplistic design that is both functional and beautiful.

Inglot Freedom System Palette
– Really Sturdy Hard Plastic
– Frosted Clear top for easy viewing
– Incredibly strong magnets (careful when removing)
– Easy method to remove pans and insert pans
– They comes in a variety of sizes and shapes

To remove a pan use the magnetic bit on the lid by placing it over the corner of the pan and slow move it around until it
the pan lifts/tilts up out of the palette as it becomes magnetized to the lid.

Inglot offers tons of different makeup products from nail polishes to lashes to eye shadows. I was very intrigued by the hype the blogging community has given to their shadows. Is it worth it?

Inglot eye shadows are very affordable as they offer both versatility, amazing pigmentation, and a wide array of colors. The freedom system eye shadows (pan only) are $5 each and they come in a variety of finishes (matte, pearl, double sparkle, shine, AMC, pigment, trios).  You can also purchase them in container form for $12.

Pros
* I love the Freedom System Concept – pick and choose what you want *
Affordable for $5 pan
Variety of finishes – I love the ‘pearl’ finish
Saturated pigmentation so that you get what you see
Tons of different colors from bright yellow to matte black to hot pink
Interesting square pan packaging
All pans are individually airtight sealed when purchased

Cons
All the colors are labelled with numbers, not names
When placed in palette it’s very hard to see labels

Colors I purchased according to (above palette photo)
I currently own 9 Inglot shadows and I’ve included descriptions of what I think color is like

Product Name – NYX Mood Lip Gloss (original version)
Available – Ulta makeup stores, NYX.com, cherryculture.com
Price – $4.49
Application – slanted tip, squeeze from plastic tube
Pros – I was really intrigued by lower priced “mood” lip gloss. It has a cherry scent/flavor but it’s not overwhelming. It’s easy to use and carry around. It does actually change from a clear gloss to a pink/rosy shade on your lips. The “change” isn’t instant but gradual within a few minutes. However the mood effect always the same and once it’s evolved into the pink shade, it won’t change anymore. I really like the color on my lips, not drying and a great price!

Best Meal of 2011 – Atchafalaya Restaurant

Atchafalaya Restaurant
901 Louisiana Ave
New Orleans, LA 70115

Dish – Stuffed Pork sirloin with feta cheese, apples, and asparagus then wrapped in bacon
Side – Sweet Potato Hash

Seriously, this was the best meal of the year! We found it while talking to a waiter at a local cafe. He recommended and it was totally worth it. It’s a tiny and quaint restaurant that reminds me of someone’s cozy house. It’s bustling with people so the wait can be a bit long. Other than that they offer a full bar, moderately small menu (5-6 choices) and friendly staff.

I also tried my 1st pimm’s cup (refreshing) and I even made it to dessert. We had a delicious bread  pudding.
My mouth is just watering thinking about their food. 🙂

Afterwards you can take a walk see some gorgeous mansions, hit a bar for some live music or just food coma.
I loved how the city was filled to the brim with all sorts of live music.
❤ I’m so smitten and I can’t wait to go back!

Lust List #2 (Birthday Edition)

It’s funny to think how summer is almost over. I suppose since I’ve started working full time and the awful bi-polar weather in Norcal I didn’t even really grasp that summer was here. I’ve decided that Norcal weather is such a tease! In June we had a heat wave week so I got giddy with summer dresses and shorts only to be stuck wearing sweater in July. Eeeks! Of course, I do live in a cubicle so it is quite chilly.

Well we are in August territory now! I am head over heals about August as I’ll be heading home to MN for a week, my brother’s birthday, my boyfriend’s birthday and 20 days in counting to MY Birthday! Golly so many birthday means lots of cake and shopping! : )

It will be such a relief that this is the first birthday in ages where I won’t be taking summer finals or writing long essays where I see the sunrise. Also August is MN state fair month!

Well here’s my updated Lust List #2 – Enjoy!
Lust List Definition – Stuff that I find interesting and I’m lusting over that maybe you would find interesting too. This particular list has a lot of limited edition and exclusive items so if they are interesting to you, I’d highly recommend to snatch them up soon.
Everything is curated is my opinion.

As always FEEL Free to comment below about your own lust lists or if you have tried these products and if they are worth lusting over ❤

1) Sirius Skinsonic Facial Cleansing Brush System $49.99
Purchase at Sirius Online Store
The Skinsonic set comes with battery powered brush + 5 removable brush heads
I’ve watched and read bunch of reviews and they are raving about this product! I hear it’s very comparable to Clarisonic brush set ($150+) and approves the skin. Well lately due to stress and traveling my skin would love some more love. They also have a 100% guarantee that you’ll love it and you can return if you don’t.

The only con is that I believe you can only purchase it online at Sirius Website.

2) Stila Beach Palette – Wonderful in Waikiki $14 (Limited Edition)
Purchase at Ulta, Sephora and Stila.com

Stila Cosmetics has been coming out with this neat travel palettes. They are affordable, slim and comes with 4 shadows + 2 blushes. This seems to me to scream summer here I come. Have you tried it? I’ve swatched other Stila travel palettes but I find their shadows to be a bit chalky. But recently in my Birchbox I received a Stila shadow in Mahogany it was buttery loveliness.

3) Sephora Exclusive – Benefit Stay Put Mini Set $10
Purchase only at Sephora stores and
online.
First off I love that Sephora offers these mini deluxe sample sets. I love trying out new products but I hate the breaking the bank to do it. I really interested in the Benefit RSVP cream eyeshadow in this set as it claims to be crease-less. It’s a gorgeous color!

4) Smashbox Limitless Lipstain in Guava $23
Purchased at Ulta, Sephora and Smashbox’s Website
Is a lipstain worth $23 dollars? Heck probably not but this color is the quintessential summer color. I saw the pixiwoo sister do a haul on these lipstains and I had to go to Sephora to try it out. Man it’s a It’s bright coral-red and it looks wonderful. Ever since I’ve been lusting after it. If you do decide to pick up I’d recommend buying off Smashbox online website as on Tues/Thursday they give you a free full size gift + free shipping!

(Photo from Make me blushhh blog – Gilded Trio)

(Wet N Wild Dream Catcher Limited Edition Palettes – now on display in your stores!)
5) Wet N Wild Limited Edition Color-Icon Trios $2.99
Purchase at most drugstores (CVS, Walgreens, RiteAid)

Trios I’m lusting for – Gilded Ages, Dancing in the Clouds & We’re Blasting off!
The shadows are pigmented, easy to apply, buttery soft, and a blow out price! Only issues that limited editions are well limited and hard to come by. So I’ve been searching to no avail as everywhere around me is sold out. 😦
6) Tarte’s Amazonian Clay 12-blush in Tipsy $25
Purchased at Ulta & Sephora & QVC
I saw on Ebrushka’s blog post that she adores the Tarte blush in Tipsy (coral). It very beautiful coral and I’m intrigued by their 12-hour claims.

7) Ulta Exclusive – Lorac Naked Lace Collection $28
Purchase only at Ulta
The kits comes with 2 eyeshadows, 1 rose color blush, 3 liquid lipsticks and cute clutch. This is from Lorac new fall collection. This summer I purchased Lorac tantalize palette and I love it. I don’t believe I’ve used eye shadows are so buttery, blendable and complimentary to each other. If you don’t have the tantalize palette I’d highly recommend as it’s much cheaper than buying single Lorac shadows and creates a great work friendly look. I think that the naked lace collection will following suit in awesomeness!

8 ) Microplane Zester/Grater $12
Available on Amazon.com and other stores that sell food preparation tools
Ok this one isn’t makeup related at all. This is for the foodies out there. For some reason all my latest recipes have been calling for lemon zest or to grated items! Well have you tried zest a lemon with a peeler, it takes forever and is horridly anti-climatic. So if you need to zest and grate I’d recommend this tool. Ha I really need to get one.

Well that’s my top 8 ….hope you enjoyed and found some new things to check out

Sincerely,
-S
